At PRINTING United Expo, In-plant Impressions Editor Bob Neubauer talked with Abbas Badani, of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, about how adding a hybrid flatbed printer has dramatically changed his in-plant, expanding wide-format work to comprise more than 50% of the business. He talked about a recent 200-piece wide-format job the shop did for the UNLV library, and the unexpected success of magnets.
Thanks to the Expo’s proximity, Badani was able to bring his staff to the show, to show them the scope of the industry. He was very impressed with the amount of apparel printing equipment and promo items at the Expo, and expects to expand production of these items in his shop to make up 30% of its business in the next few years.
The key points covered by Abbas in this video include:
- Expanded wide-format printing, now over half of his shop's business.
- Completion of large-scale projects, such as a 200-piece order for the UNLV library.
- Unexpected demand for custom magnets.
- Plans to increase promotional item production, targeting 30% of operations.
- Bringing staff to the PRINTING United Expo to explore industry advancements.
