X-Rite Inc. has tapped Ron Voigt as the new president of the company. He succeeds Tom Vacchiano who announced his retirement as president of X-Rite, effective on March 1, 2013. For a smooth leadership transition and strong-focused start to the year, Vacchiano will immediately take on an advisory role.

PITTSBURGH—Printing Industries of America (PIA) has announced that a dozen technologies were recipients of the 2012 InterTech Technology Awards. The technologies receiving this award have been judged as "truly innovative and are expected to advance the performance of the graphic communications industry," according to PIA.
X-Rite, a global leader in color science and technology, has signed a definitive merger agreement with Danaher under which Danaher will acquire the company for $5.55 per share in cash, or a total of approximately $625 million including the assumption of debt, net of cash. The transaction is expected to close during the second quarter of 2012.
It's hard to believe, but Graph Expo will begin in just nine days. Though the absence of such regulars as Heidelberg and Komori has been duly noted, the graphic arts trade show will still be bursting with new technologies for in-plants to peruse.
