Spiel Associates
Vendors reported a good amount of interest in bindery equipment at this year's GRAPH EXPO in Chicago. The bindery equipment at the show offered in-plants some great opportunities to expand their services and increase their efficiency.
Spiel Associates recently held its annual fall open house. In addition to perfect binders, collators, punches and double loop wire binders from Spiel, representatives from Graphic Whizard, Drylam and MBM also showed off their new wares.
Though digital printing equipment made the biggest splash at the On Demand Conference and Exposition in March, the Washington, D.C. show was chock full of bindery equipment too. IPG visited all of the major bindery vendors. Here's a look at what we saw.
Always on the move, the On Demand Conference & Exposition will take place in Washington, D.C., next month for the first time. We asked some of the participants what they plan to have on display.
When Derek Seim transitioned into his role of Printing Service manager at Texas Engineering Extension Service (TEEX) more than a year ago, he had to figure out what the in-plant needed to stay up and running. The Bryan, Texas-based shop installed a Xerox Nuvera 144 to produce more black-and-white work, as well as book covers, in-house. He knew it was then time to focus on overhauling the shop's bindery.
Bindery equipment company Spiel Associates hosted an open house on November 10-11 at its facility in Long Island City, N.Y. IPG Publisher Glen Reynolds was on hand to check out the Sterling line of perfect binders, automatic punches, coil binders and coil formers, as well as the Rilecart line of double loop wire binders. Also showcased were the Graphic Whizard line of creasers and UV coaters.
Though inkjet presses may have stolen some of the thunder, new bindery equipment was everywhere at Graph Expo. The crowds were consistently large in the bindery booths, and vendors were very upbeat about the show.
THOUGH SOME major digital printing equipment vendors may have sat out this year's AIIM/On Demand Conference and Exposition in Philadelphia, all of the key bindery vendors were there, showing off their latest innovations. IPG spent time at all of their booths.
On Tuesday, market research and consulting firm InfoTrends announced the winners of its fifth annual On Demand Best of Show awards during the On Demand Conference & Expo in Philadelphia. One Best of Show award was presented in each of the following categories:
THE AIIM/On Demand Conference and Exposition is returning to IPG’s home town of Philadelphia next month, taking place April 20-22. Some 10,000 people are expected to attend the three-day show, with hundreds of vendors planning to exhibit. To whet your appetite, IPG asked some key vendors what they plan to showcase at the Pennsylvania Convention Center.
