In-plant managers returned last week from Auburn, Ala., with new ideas and renewed enthusiasm after another successful Southeastern University Printing and Digital Managers Conference (SUPDMC). With a focus on surviving in this uncertain economy, the 35th annual SUPDMC drew 29 in-plant attendees to Auburn University.

A year after the disappointing attendance levels of PRINT 09, Graph Expo 2010 seemed like a real trade show again. The aisles were full of people, who massed around new products and kept vendors busy with demos.
Numerous in-plants were spotted walking the aisles of Graph Expo. Dozens of them packed a conference room for a lunchtime session on Tuesday, to hear vendors and fellow in-plant managers talk about how to incorporate integrated marketing into their operations.

North Dakota State University Print and Copy Services has brought high-quality digital color printing to its Fargo campus. The six-employee in-plant has installed a Pro C900 color production system from Lanier, a Ricoh company. This replaces its 55-page-per-minute Lanier LC155.
The IPMA 2010 conference featured excellent speakers and lots of camaraderie between in-plant managers.
InfoPrint Solutions Company, a Ricoh company, today announced that Transactis has chosen InfoPrint as its software and services partner as it transitions to an Automated Document Factory (ADF) environment for its transaction and TransPromo statement and direct mail printing and posting.
Last month, Ricoh’s Production Printing Business Group (PPBG) brought a dozen in-plant managers to Milwaukee for its annual In-plant Advisory Council meeting. Attendees toured the world-class Briggs and Stratton in-plant and attended two days of meetings, during which they were asked for opinions and feedback on new Ricoh products, services and strategic directions.
InfoPrint Solutions Co. is now a wholly owned subsidiary of Ricoh Co., Ltd., ending the three-year joint venture between IBM and Ricoh.

The Association of College and University Printers (ACUP) conference brought in-plant managers to Charlotte to discuss digital printing, Web-to-print and much more.
The 2010 In-Plant Printing and Mailing Association (IPMA) conference brought close to 100 in-plant managers to New Mexico's largest city. The topics, speakers and enthusiasm were almost as hot as the weather.
