Ricoh and Heidelberg agreed upon a new global distribution contract. Under it Heidelberg will begin selling Ricoh's latest color digital press, the Ricoh Pro C901 Graphic Arts Edition, as well as appropriate future production printing offerings in Ricoh's pipeline.
There is certainly no shortage of offset presses at the University of Tennessee, in Knoxville. The 47-employee in-plant boasts six of them, the centerpiece being a four-color Heidelberg Speedmaster XL 105. Still, Graphic Arts Service Manager Jack Williams knew the best days of the shop’s two-color Hamada CD-555 were behind it, and there was no shortage of two-color printing coming in the door. So in October, the in-plant installed its second two-color Heidelberg Printmaster QM 46-2.

Yesterday, with great fanfare, Ricoh Company, Ltd. announced plans to invest $300 million over three years in its global Managed Document Services (MDS) infrastructure. The press conference, which took place simultaneously in Tokyo, London and New York, stressed that Ricoh was aggressively accelerating its shift to a services business model as a key growth strategy.

Cal Poly’s Graphic Communication Department has announced the lineup for its 2011 International Printing Week, set for January 25-28. The theme of the four-day event is “Graphic Communication – The Production of Knowledge.” Sponsored by EFI, EskoArtwork, Kodak, Ricoh and RR Donnelley, the program will include seminars by industry leaders, laboratory dedications, demonstrations, a career fair and a banquet. Industry members are invited to attend the seminars.
