Ricoh Co., Ltd. has made a multimillion dollar investment in Avanti Computer Systems, a Toronto-based provider of Print Management Information Systems (MIS) solutions. With numerous installations at in-plants, Avanti will now be able to bring its MIS tools to an even broader global market.
Designed for high-quality, low-cost output in production environments, the new Ricoh Pro C5100s digital color printer prints 65 color prints per minute at resolutions up to 1,200x4,800 dpi. Its Vertical Cavity Surface Emitting Laser (VCSEL) technology emits laser beams to adjust to sheet expansion and contraction, minimizing color shift. The printer automatically readjusts paper to align front and back registration for more accurate printing during long print runs. An elastic fusing belt ensures more consistent transfer and toner adhesion on specialty stocks.
In the Hall of Fame of great conferences (if there were such a thing) it would be tough to beat last month's In-Plant Printing and Mailing Association (IPMA) conference. The location, on the outskirts of San Francisco, was excellent; the weather was sunny and pleasant throughout; the lineup of speakers and topics was among the best ever, with a nearly overwhelming amount of useful, timely information presented; and the evening boat cruise on the San Francisco Bay provided that combination of stunning views and friendly fraternization often sought but rarely achieved.
At the inaugural Inkjet Summit in April, Charlie Pesko, founder of InfoTrends, stressed that production inkjet technology was poised to transfigure the printing business. "I sincerely believe that inkjet is the next big game changer in the printing industry," he said.
For many years, running the bulk mail processing equipment at University of Oregon Printing & Mailing Services was a lonely job. Since 1993, the in-plant’s inserting, tabbing and addressing equipment has been in the basement of its building in Eugene, Ore., down a steep set of metal stairs, out of earshot of the rest of the shop.
For the fifth consecutive year, Ricoh’s InfoPrint 5000 production print platform has been named the high-speed inkjet market share leader in the United States, according to IDC’s "U.S. Production Printer and MFP 2012 Vendor Shares." Within the "IDC MarketScape: Worldwide High-Speed Inkjet Web Press 2013 Vendor Analysis," Ricoh was also named a worldwide Leader.
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL—The Inkjet Summit, held April 9-11, at the Ponte Vedra Inn & Club in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, was a major success for both sponsors and attendees. The Inkjet Summit is an invitation-only, hosted summit designed for senior managers and business executives from print providers and corporate enterprises who are looking to develop strategies, understand their options, and make major investment decisions around inkjet printing technology.
At the inaugural 2013 Inkjet Summit last week in Ponte Vedra Beach, FL, attendees were treated to non-stop activities: keynotes, panel discussions, case studies, user conversations and more, providing a near constant flow of information. The enthusiasm of attendees and sponsors alike was very high, with many compliments going to organizers for bringing the two groups together in such an intimate setting, which included scheduled one-on-one meetings and case history presentations by segment.
Ricoh Americas has detailed its Document Production Center Optimization services, which help clients reduce costs in transactional printing and distribution, while improving accuracy and utilizing existing technology, whenever possible.
