When you sit down and talk with Donna Horbelt, you immediately feel like you've been friends for years. So it's no wonder that her engaging personality and the interest she takes in her customers has led them to view her in-plant at the University of Texas Heath Science Center at Houston as a supportive ally, committed to their success.
Like many in-plants, Arizona State University's Print & Imaging Lab used a home-grown, Excel-based estimating and job tracking system for many years. Though this eventually migrated to a Google Doc, to give staff better access, it was still cumbersome, and the job list was never completely up to date.
In-plants that have not invested in VDP should consider the value-added service opportunities that it has to offer. Integrating variable data services within existing production operations allows in-plants to offer faster turnaround times and reduce the costs associated with outsourcing jobs that require personalization. Having a VDP solution will allow them to stay relevant and serve the printing needs of multiple departments within their organization.
The top new technology products in each of the Graph Expo 2012 Must See ’Ems categories were revealed at the close of the annual Executive Outlook conference that precedes the opening of the show.
Each year, a panel of industry experts, journalists and consultants analyzes the graphic arts technologies that will be on display at the Graph Expo trade show and assembles a list of those they feel will have the greatest impact on the printing industry. This list of “Must See ’Ems” winners has traditionally been revealed at the pre-show Executive Outlook Conference, just a day before the Chicago show opens.
With the early announcement of this year’s top technology winners, GRAPH EXPO 2012 attendees will be able for the first time to plan their Must See ’Ems booth visits in advance of the show. They also will be able to take advantage of a new Must See ’Ems pre-show webinar for more in-depth discussions of the winning technologies and the reasons they were chosen.
Student workers are a common sight at higher-ed in-plants, but it's rare to find one where 79 percent of the employees are students. That's the scenario at the Arizona State University Print & Imaging Lab.
Through the use of data analytics and enhanced relevant marketing Rosemont College hoped to improve results for its Annual Fund drive. Rosemont’s service provider, Pacesetter Enterprises, developed a multi-phase, cross-channel campaign that exceeded expectations. Undergraduate alumni participation increased by 66%.
JUDGING BY the number of in-plant managers walking the Graph Expo show floor last month, there are quite a few in-plants itching to leave the recession behind and get busy adding equipment. The show gave them plenty to ogle, too, particularly in the inkjet arena.
