Komori Corp. has signed a global sales agreement with Konica Minolta Business Technologies, the information equipment business unit of Konica Minolta Holdings Inc. As a result, Konica Minolta will supply to Komori the bizhub PRESS series, centered on the bizhub PRESS C8000 digital printing system, in the United States, Europe, Japan and China.

Introduced at Graph Expo, the new four-color Meteor DP8700 multi-substrate digital press from MGI Digital Graphic Technology, supports up to a 13x40˝ sheet (13x47˝ with manual bypass) and prints up to 71 ppm (letter-size) with a maximum 3,600 dpi resolution.
JUDGING BY the number of in-plant managers walking the Graph Expo show floor last month, there are quite a few in-plants itching to leave the recession behind and get busy adding equipment. The show gave them plenty to ogle, too, particularly in the inkjet arena.

On the second day of Graph Expo, about 50 in-plant managers got together for a very productive roundtable luncheon, hosted by IPG. With Editor Bob Neubauer moderating, managers discussed numerous critical topics, shared their experiences and questioned one another about equipment and software.
WHEN GORDON Ryan joined the 77,000-member New York State Bar Association about 12 months ago as print production manager, the organization had already decided to upgrade its in-house printing capabilities. To date, that upgrade has included a relocation to a 20,000-square-foot off-site facility custom-fitted to suit NYSBA's printing and warehousing workflow requirements, as well as a significant upgrade in equipment.

When Graph Expo 2011 kicks off in Chicago on September 11, in-plant managers who walk the floor at McCormick Place will notice one big difference from last year: the resurgence of offset printing. True, there were presses at last year's show, most notably in Presstek's booth. But three offset giants—Heidelberg USA, Komori America and Mitsubishi Lithographic Presses—all chose to sit that show out.
The New York Bar Association recently installed a four-color Komori Lithrone S29 with coater in its in-plant, replacing two older presses. The new press is allowing the in-plant to keep more work in house and print it faster.
