Hewlett-Packard claims to have solved the two biggest problems with today’s 3-D printers and will make its first big technology announcement in that area in June, CEO Meg Whitman said Wednesday.

The new 29" Heidelberg XL 75 Anicolor digital offset press is now available in the North American market. The press is ideal for commercial, label, package printing and P-O-P applications. HP is actively combating black market sales of its products and pursuing companies found to be in violation of the law. On December 4, the New York City Police Department executed an enforcement action in New York City, seizing approximately $400,000 of stolen HP Indigo supplies destined for sale on the black market.
Hewlett-Packard this month laid off about 100 employees in Omaha, NE, as part of a corporate restructuring plan announced in May 2012. The workers were notified November 4, and the layoffs were effective immediately.

Perhaps more significant, brand owners generally look to box makers for boxes, not commercial printers.
