Two appointments have been made in two key business areas at Heidelberg. Jason Oliver has been tapped as the head of "Digital Printing;" and Stefan Hasenzahl has taken the helm of the newly founded "Very Large Format and Postpress Packaging" business area. "The appointment of these two executives underlines the commitment Heidelberg has made to the large-format and packaging printing/digital printing business areas," said Stephan Plenz, member of the management board responsible for Heidelberg Equipment.
Following IPG's visit to Heidelberg's headquarters in Germany last month, IPG has just released a short video of the visit. It shows the company's new 54,900-square-foot Print Media Center (PMC) in Heidelberg, as well as scenes from IPG's tour of Heidelberg's press manufacturing facilities in Wiesloch-Walldorf.

Since overseeing the installation of a Presstek 34DI digital offset press last July, Al Goranson, manager of Imaging Services at the University of Colorado at Boulder, has achieved his goal of taking in more long-run, full-color work. “As our volume of four-color work continued to grow, especially in run lengths greater than 1,000, we needed something that could produce the work at a cheaper cost than our HP Indigo 3050 digital press,” recalls Goranson. “We had opportunities on longer runs that were just not economic to produce on the Indigo. That was why we chose the Presstek 34DI press.”
Edwards Brothers Malloy, which has provided one- and two-color book manufacturing for more than a century, is breaking new ground with its latest acquisition. With the purchase of a 40˝ Heidelberg Speedmaster sheetfed offset press dedicated to four-color text work, Edwards Brothers Malloy can now offer four-color book and journal printing in runs from one to 3,000 copies.
