In October, the TACUP and SWACUMS joint conference featured two presentations focused on the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. The discussion included suggestions for other in-plants that may face natural disasters.

University in-plant managers from a dozen states met in Tennessee in October for the 42nd annual Southeastern University Printing and Digital Managers Conference. Enthusiasm was at an all-time high.

This was a busy week of in-plant visits for me. On Tuesday and Wednesday I toured the in-plants at Yale University, the University of Bridgeport, Fairfield University and Sacred Heart University. What's more, I met with more than a dozen in-plant managers at an IPMA Road Show event.

There seemed to be even more in-plant activities than usual this year at PRINT 17. IPG hosted in-plant breakfast and lunch sessions, both of which drew capacity crowds, and IPMA stepped up its activities this year.

About, 20,000 people from the graphic communications industry, including scores of in-plants, gathered at McCormick Place for five days of education, networking and an up-close look at the latest innovations and technologies from more than 450 exhibitors.

At an IPG breakfast session during PRINT 17 titled "Production Printing in Today's Security-Sensitive World," speakers examined the current landscape of global cybersecurity and the vulnerabilities that exist within many companies that go undetected.

I just flew home from Chicago last night after spending five very full days at PRINT 17. My schedule was jam packed with in-plant breakfasts and luncheons, vendor press conferences, video shoots, meetings, booth tours and evening events. Needless to say I'm still exhausted.

In-plants work hard, aim high and hit their marks to retain the loyalty of customers and the confidence of their organizations. At a session at PRINT 17 four in-plant managers described their newest services and detailed their upcoming plans.
