The Vatican has completed the installation of a Meteor DP8700 XL digital press within its in-plant production house (known as Tipografia Vaticana). The in-plant print's everything from magazines to brochures and all of the Vatican’s stationary and envelopes, as well as the weekly newspaper, L’Osservatore Romano.
Manulife Financial needed an on-demand fulfillment solution that would convert its standard kits to digital kits. By working with Distributech, all of Manulife's kit components were converted into PDFs and every kit order was processed through a composition tool to build a highly personalized kit containing all the necessary components.

Tight budgets in Louisiana and the need for more on-demand printing have compelled the Office of State Printing to slim down and digitize. The slimming down came in October when staff reductions brought the Baton Rouge operation down to 20 full-time employees plus five student workers. The transition from offset to digital technologies followed closely after.

The new VUTEk GS3250 LX printer from Heidelberg, will support Suttle-Straus Inc.'s production of point-of-purchase (POP) and display graphics for multi-location customers that Suttle-Straus already provides with conventional printing and fulfillment. The new press will also help bolster the company's R&D side of the business.
