Yale, Bucknell Big Winners in ACUP+ Awards

On Wednesday, April 17, the Association of College and University Printers (ACUP+) honored the winners of its ACUP Awards competition in a ceremony in Rochester, New York. The gala event capped the association's 60^th anniversary conference. The three-day event drew more than 80 higher-ed in-plant managers from 52 institutions, including attendees from Canada and the UK.

John Yerger, retired director of University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s in-plant, was honored with the ACUP+ Achiever Award for his years of service to the organization. Donna Horbelt, of University of California, Davis, was inducted into the ACUP+ Hall of Fame. This was followed by the surprise induction of a second person into the Hall of Fame: IPI Editor Bob Neubauer, who has attended 26 ACUP conferences, starting in 1995. A special dedication to long-time ACUP attendee Ray Chambers, who passed away last year, was also presented by Neubauer, who reflected on Chambers’ career and dedication to ACUP. His wife Catherine Chambers attended the dinner.

Collaborative Service: University of California, Davis
Green Service: Yale University
Distinctive Service: Oregon State University
Accelerated Service: Oklahoma City Community College
Impact WOW+: Fayetteville State University and Yale University

In the ACUP+ Production Awards portion of the ceremony, Bucknell University brought home five Platinum and Gold awards and Iowa State University took four. Oregon State University won the Best of Show award for its Athletics Deck Books. The People’s Choice award went to Fayetteville State University for its impressive Bronco Print Sign, complete with lights.

Bob Neubauer Author's page

Bob has served as editor of In-plant Impressions since October of 1994. Prior to that he served for three years as managing editor of Printing Impressions, a commercial printing publication. Mr. Neubauer is very active in the U.S. in-plant industry. He attends all the major in-plant conferences and has visited more than 180 in-plant operations around the world. He has given presentations to numerous in-plant groups in the U.S., Canada and Australia, including the Association of College and University Printers and the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association. He also coordinates the annual In-Print contest, co-sponsored by IPMA and In-plant Impressions.
