Xerox Launches 80-ppm Color Press
Last week, Xerox debuted its DocuColor 8080 Digital Press, which can print at 80 pages per minute on paper weights up to 300 gsm. Designed to handle jobs ranging from direct mail and calendars to booklets and collateral, the 8080 uses a low gloss dry ink, which offers a smooth, matte-like finish that accents color images, including shadows and highlights. The ink creates the look and feel of offset, with the speed and simplicity of digital technology.
Productivity apps on the DocuColor 8080 simplify the most common print jobs with ready-to-use templates. Apps range from job ticketing and personalization to prepress operations, allowing printers to increase the number of jobs completed daily. Each app comes with software from the FreeFlow Digital Workflow Collection and on-site support.
Color accuracy is accomplished with the Automated Color Quality Suite (ACQS) , a set of tools driven by an Inline Spectrophotometer, which reads color data inside the printer. ACQS automates color management tasks with minimal operator involvement.
The DocuColor 8080 features three different print servers from Xerox, EFI Fiery and CREO. Various finishing options are available from Xerox, GBC and Standard Horizon.
