Paper Accident Kills Wisconsin Man
An accident at an xpedx facility in Pewaukee, Wis., this week left a 52-year-old man dead after he was trapped under a five-foot stack of paper. The TMJ4 website reported that Andrew Blechacz, of Waukesha, was working inside the warehouse when a shelving unit stacked full of pallets of copy paper collapsed, according to the Waukesha County Sherif's Department.
"Employees arriving, sheriff's department deputies, and then the fire and EMS crews worked frantically to uncover the gentleman from the enormous amount of paper that fell upon him," said Steve Pederson of the sheriff's department, according to TMJ4.
The plant, which employs about 80 people, was closed after the accident. TMJ4 reported that xpedx has a clean record with OSHA in its 90+ plants across the U.S., except one accident involving a forklift in 2004 in Maryland. Read the full story and watch a TV news report here.
