UT-Austin In-plant Now Handling Secure Shredding
Document Solutions at the University of Texas at Austin has just launched a new secure document destruction service. The in-plant will use a Kobra Cyclone industrial shredder, which meets the latest shredding standards issued by the National Security Agency.
"We want to provide our customers solutions," notes Director Richard Beto. "Our customers deal with issues that start with the creation of a document and run to the end of life. These are cradle-to-grave issues we need to be involved with. This service is a natural fit for our service group."
For the past several years, Documents Solutions has been working with Records Management Services (RMS) to finish the last step of document management for UT Austin—the final disposition of documents. Following established RMS procedures for the disposal of university records, documents will be transferred in locked bins from customers' locations to a secure campus site to be shredded by trained UT Austin staff within 72 hours of pick-up. A signed certificate will be returned to the customer and RMS upon completion.
