A New Way to Promote Your
Open House
YouTube is the most popular video-sharing Web site available right now. It allows you to upload as many videos to the Internet as you want, for free.
QR codes are two-dimensional codes that can be printed on almost anything. Smart phones with QR code readers are able to scan the code, which allows users to follow the QR code's link with their smart phones.
Now that you know what these tools are, here's how you can use them to promote your in-plant's next open house.
First, create a video that will include information about your open house. Talk about which subjects will be covered, what attendees will experience and why they should attend. Say everything you would say to a friend or colleague about why they should go.
If you are concerned about not having enough to talk about, don't be. YouTube videos that are used for promotions can be anywhere from 30 seconds to three minutes long, so don't force a lengthy video if you don't have to.
Also, if you are wondering what you should use to record your video, there are plenty of options. You can record a video with a smart phone, a digital camera, a camcorder or a flip camera.
If you use Facebook, Twitter or LinkedIn, and would like to personally invite colleagues to the open house, you can send them the video using these sites as well.
Now Create a QR Code
Once you have your YouTube video, now you can create your QR code. There are many Web sites you can use to create a QR code for free. Link the QR code to your YouTube video, and then you should be able save it.
If you are able to find link shorteners that also track how many visits the link gets, then shorten your YouTube link that way. Being able to see how many people scan your QR code is always a benefit for knowing how effective this tool is.
Now that you have a QR code that links to the YouTube promotion video of your open house, print your QR codes on all of your printed collateral. You can place this QR code on newsletters, advertisements, flyers and more. This is a great way to make your printed material interactive and to promote your open house.
