Located in the English Midlands, about 110 miles north of London, Loughborough University Print and Post Services provides a range of services to its Leicestershire, U.K., university. From marketing materials, exam papers, large-format posters, and vinyl signage, to ID cards, branded gifts, and promotional goods, the in-plant has provided nearly everything the university required – except for die-cutting.
That changed in June when the shop installed a Veloblade Nexus digital die-cutting system from Vivid to automate its processes. Since then, reports Manager Helen Clarke, in an article in Printweek, “we have successfully brought previously outsourced services in-house, resulting in significant cost savings for our university and introducing numerous commercial benefits.”
“So far we have created a series of pre-cut sheet products, primarily for photo printing, on a range of materials such as aluminum composite, thermoplastic sheets and Smart-X and Triaprint from Antalis,” she told IPI in an email.
