On March 10, the judges selected 67 Gold, Silver and Bronze winning pieces in the In-Print™ 2025 contest, the only printing contest exclusively for in-plants. This included 33 Gold winners, 19 Silver winners, and 15 Bronze winners. An additional five "Judges' Choice" awards were selected. Overall, 32 different in-plants won awards. About 350 pieces were submitted to the In-Print contest, a partnership between IPI and the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association. New this year were categories for extra large graphics installations and wraps, items printed on rigid substrates, fabrication, engraving, and more. The stickers category brought in nearly two dozen entries. Seven categories were reserved exclusively for in-plants with 10 or fewer employees and those categories drew 53 entries, yielding several first-time winners.
The top In-Print winner this year was the World Bank Group, which accumulated eight awards, five of them Gold. Also notable was Oregon State University, which took home four awards, all of them Gold. Arizona State University also won four awards, including three Gold; the University of Texas at Austin claimed four as well, one of them Gold; and Bloomberg Ink also earned four awards.
Winning three In-Print 2025 awards were University of Oklahoma (all Gold), Cedarville University (two Gold), Missouri State University (one Gold), University of Nebraska – Lincoln (one Gold), University of Oregon (one Gold), and Mayo Clinic. One impressive win was in the Direct Mail category, when the City of Bangor, Maine’s one-person in-plant pulled an upset to win Gold, beating out the much larger 33-employee UNL in-plant, which took Silver, as well as several other better-equipped shops.
For the first time this year, categories were restructured into three divisions: offset, digital, and specialty/wide-format. After each division’s winners were picked, the Gold-winning pieces were laid back down and judges chose a “Best of Division” winner. At the end of the day, the winners from those divisions were brought back out and judges picked a single Best of Show winner. Best of Division and Best of Show winners will be revealed at the 2025 IPMA conference, taking place June 8-12 in Spokane, Washington.
