The PRINTING United Digital Experience was the 2020 showcase for many of the product launches that had been scheduled for drupa and other trade shows. Here’s a quick look at products that were featured.
Canon Arizona 2300
The Canon Arizona 2300 Series UV curable flatbed printers are built around the Arizona FLOW technology, a vacuum technique that supports a zone-less, multi-origin table layout. FLOW technology offers up to 20% more productivity, as it requires less masking and taping, and is supported by three-sided pneumatic registration pins to better secure the substrate in place on the table. The pneumatic registration pins allow customers to print from edge to edge on the substrate, to align substrates to either the left or the right edge of the table, or both. Users can also easily and accurately print double-sided, as well as print on odd-shaped, heavy, smooth, or pre-cut media without the use of a jig. Additionally, this series also provides customers with the ability to print up to 1,001 sq. ft./hr. The automated maintenance system offers hands-free printhead maintenance and reduces downtime by restoring nozzle function in as little as 24 seconds — including white ink, which can be difficult to maintain. Its high-resolution camera alignment system enables easy, quick, and precise printhead alignment and flatbed table mapping.
Epson SureColor S-Series
Epson’s 64˝ SureColor S-Series solvent printers with a bulk ink system — the SureColor S60600L and the SureColor S80600L — enhance productivity while supporting a low total cost of ownership. The SureColor S60600L features a four-color bulk ink pack system, and the SureColor S80600L features a 10-color bulk ink pack system, providing double the ink capacity of previous generations for a low ink cost per milliliter, and minimized waste when compared to Epson cartridge systems. The SureColor S80600L is a premium print solution capable of hitting 98.2% Pantone coverage. Both models offer more than 30% better ink efficiency than comparable latex solutions, and produce outstanding decals, labels, banners, and more at $0.165 per milliliter.
Roland DGA TrueVIS VF2-640
Roland DGA’s new TrueVIS VF2-640 is a 64˝ eco-solvent wide-format printer. The first “print-only” model to be offered within Roland DG’s TrueVIS series, the VF2-640 inherits a host of features from the TrueVIS VG2 series of printer/cutters. Along with the VF2 comes a TR2 green ink that, when combined with vibrant TR2 orange ink in process colors, allows for a significantly wider gamut. This specially formulated TR2 green ink is also now available for use with the TrueVIS VG2 series. Like VG2-printed graphics, output produced by the VF2 with standard TR2 inks has earned both the 3M MCS Warranty and the Avery Dennison ICS Performance Guarantee, providing customers with assurance of the quality and durability of their graphics.
Fujifilm Acuity LED 1600R
Featuring Q-Class printheads from FUJIFILM Dimatix, the Acuity LED 1600R is a 64˝ dedicated roll-to-roll press, offering four color channels, with the option of a modular upgrade to seven colors. It features a high-density mode capable of handling heat-sensitive roll media while printing vibrant displays, making it suitable for backlit and window applications. It can print up to 355 sq. ft./hr. Producing low levels of heat and requiring lower ink volumes and less power than similar machines, the Acuity LED 1600R has instant start-up, long-life UV-LED lamps, no ozone or VOC emissions, and only one consumable — the ink. Along with the new press is the new Uvijet RL ink range, which is available in CMYK and CMYK plus light Cyan and light Magenta, along with a modular upgrade option to include White. Picoliter drop sizes range from 10 to 30, allowing for smooth tonal ranges, fine text, and solid colors.

The R Series rigid substrate capabilities include paper and plastic foamboard, PVC foam, corrugated board, acrylic, polycarbonate, compressed cardboard, honeycomb board, aluminum composite panel, and wood. Roll substrates include PVC banner, self-adhesive vinyl, coated paper, polypropylene, polystyrene, polycarbonate, polyester, textiles, and canvas.
Agfa Jeti Tauro H3300 LED S
The latest member of the Jeti Tauro family — the Jeti Tauro H3300 LED S — is an entry-level model. This new hybrid six-color printer, with optional white and primer, boasts a top speed of 302 sq. m./hr., which can be upgraded to higher speeds. It has short startup times and easy maintenance, while featuring the same automation options. It is available in six possible configurations. Four of these are dedicated to board printing, ranging from manual to fully automatic. The 3/4 automated version makes use of an automatic board feeder. Two configurations focus on roll printing, with a master roll-to-roll and a light roll-to-roll model. It is powered by Agfa’s Asanti workflow software, with the smart Asanti Production Dashboard displaying ink and media consumption and printing time for each job and printer.
