Technical College Chooses Heidelberg
When the Graphic Arts/Printing Technology program at Central Maine Technical College in Auburn, Maine, received a government grant to purchase new equipment, instructor Terry Brann and his students chose a two-color Heidelberg Printmaster QM 46 press. It was installed last November.
“It’s important for students to see that sheetfed offset technology continues to improve right alongside its digital counterpart,” says Brann.
Now, his 22 students compete for time on the new machine, which features a small-format envelope feeder, automatic blanket wash-up and automatic plate loading. Brann likes the Printmaster’s compact footprint and quiet operation.
The department functions partly as an in-plant for the college but also does some work for local nonprofit organizations, turning out a variety of four-color commercial and two-color envelope work on the new press. The shop also uses a two-color Heidelberg MOZP perfector, a KORD litho press, and a Heidelberg 10x15? Windmill letterpress, along with a Stahl USA B 20 folder.
