The Technical Association of the Graphic Arts (TAGA) — a 76-year-old organization devoted to disseminating research findings and technical innovations in graphic communications and part of PRINTING United Alliance; announces that industry leaders Don Schroeder and Jules VanSant were recognized as recipients of the coveted Michael H. Bruno Award at a special awards banquet in Dallas during the recent PRINTING United Technical Event Series. Joining a long-standing roster of notables, this award is dedicated to late industry leader Michael H. Bruno and has recognized 98 individuals since 1976 for their outstanding contributions to the advancement of graphic arts internationally. 2024 Bruno Award Recipients
These leaders were celebrated in person during the TAGA Conference as part of the PRINTING United Technical Event Series in Dallas:
Don Schroeder, Fujifilm North America
Don Schroeder is a seasoned print technology professional, serving as the Senior Director of Professional Service and Solutions Development at Fujifilm North America Graphic Systems Division. With a career spanning over 33 years at Fujifilm, he has played a pivotal role in the company's transition from legacy analog consumables to cutting-edge digital inkjet and toner technologies.
Schroeder's expertise lies in Workflow, Color Management, and Project Management across various printing segments, including Offset, Digital, Flexo, and Packaging printing. He has been an integral part of industry-related committees, boards, and panels, contributing to the advancement of standards and practices.
On being named an award recipient, Schroeder says, “I am honored to be one of two Bruno Award recipients this year, along with Jules VanSant. TAGA is a very special industry organization that does so much for the industry and students looking to enter the print communication industry. I am grateful and look forward to supporting TAGA for many years to come.”
Jules VanSant, Bubble & Hatch
Jules held the position of Executive Director at the Pacific Print Industry Association (PPI) from 2006 to 2018, working with print and graphics companies, schools, and students in seven states. In 2018, she co-founded Bubble & Hatch Marketing with Jill Crossley.
Focused on both service and networking, Jules is also Executive Director of Two Sides North America, advocating against unsubstantiated corporate greenwashing claims using research, outreach, and community building, growing membership, and working within a worldwide network.
Jules currently serves as Vice Chair of the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation (PGSF) after holding the position of Chair for the past four years. She is the current Chair of the Cal Poly Graphic Communications Advisory Board and a trustee on the Oregon Printing Industry Pension.
VanSant says, “I am truly humbled and honored to be recognized alongside Don this year! Receiving the Bruno Award reinforces my commitment to nurturing the evolution, education, growth, and connection with our future generations within the print and graphic communication community. PrintROCKS!”
