Preliminary results from our new survey of higher-end and K-12 in-plants show that 86% now provide wide-format printing services, with 58% of those owning two or more wide-format devices.
The ongoing survey, which will close this week, will offer in-plants a closer look at trends in the educational in-plant sector. Managers of college, university, and school district in-plants are encouraged to take the survey now.
So far, 75% of respondents say they insource print work from outside their schools, and 40% manage the organization's fleet of copiers and MFPs. More than 80% say they have added or upgraded equipment in the past 12 months.
One surprising preliminary result: When asked whether school's recruitment material is printed in-house or outside, nearly 42% — the top response — said most of that material is printed by outside commercial printers, rather than by the in-plant.
These results are sure to change as more higher-ed and K-12 in-plants respond to the survey. If you manage a school in-plant, please take the survey now. Results will appear in an upcoming issue.
