Printer on Defense Following Auto Accident
HUNTINGTON, WV—A printing company here finds itself having to fend off a lawsuit from a woman injured in a 2011 auto accident allegedly caused by an employee, The West Virginia Record reported. John Rowsey was operating a vehicle for Express Printing during his shift on May 10 when it collided with a car in which Janine Murphy was the passenger.
Murphy alleges that Rowsey—who is also named in the suit—was acting in a "negligent and reckless manner" when he caused the collision, according to The Record. The printer is part of the suit, Murphy maintains, because it had the authority to restrict the people who were allowed to operate its vehicles and believes Express should have known Rowsey's operation of the vehicle created an "unreasonable risk of harm to others," the paper said.
According to the lawsuit, Murphy is claiming bodily injury, pain and suffering, loss of enjoyment of life, lost wages and diminished earning capacity. She is seeking compensatory damages.
