Bindery Upgrades? Let Us Know
In an upcoming issue, IPG will be focusing on how the addition of new bindery equipment is improving efficiency and productivity for in-plants. If your in-plant has upgraded its bindery gear in the past year or so, we'd love to hear from you. We plan to run stories on several in-plants that have benefited from new creasers, folders, cutters, stitchers and other finishing equipment.
The influx of high-end digital printers has caused many in-plants to reassess their old bindery equipment, most of which was not built to handle toner pages. For example, when MIT Copytech at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology added a Konica Minolta bizhub PRESS C8000, manager Steve Dimond wanted the quality of the folds to match the press's stunning output, so his in-plant added a Duplo 645 slitter/cutter/creaser.
"The work was going to be of a higher quality and higher standard, so we wanted to have the right finishing equipment to go along with that," he remarks, a sentiment shared by many in-plants.
