The Screen USA booth at SGIA Expo 2014 will emphasize speedier wide-format printing as the company celebrates the North American launch of the new, higher-productivity model in Screen’s Truepress Jet W3200UV series flatbed inkjet printers. Following in the footsteps of this revolutionary moving-table printer, the Truepress Jet W3200UV HS (for “High Speed”) was created. In addition to a substantial boost in productivity, the Truepress Jet W3200UV HS boasts various standard features that ensure extremely high image quality in all print modes.
Where value is supreme and equipment costs are carefully managed, the Truepress Jet W3200UV HS represents a wise investment. Because it prints full commercial quality faster and at a much lower cost, the Truepress Jet W3200UV HS offers flexibility and a rapid return on investment.
Delivering true-quality wide-format printing at the top speed of 1,614 square-feet/hr., the Truepress Jet W3200UV HS almost doubles the throughput of the Truepress Jet W3200UV (914 square-feet/hr.), launched in 2013. Print service providers not only have a choice of Truepress models but also the ability to upgrade on-site from the standard Truepress Jet W3200UV to Truepress Jet W3200UV HS specifications if job volumes increase. The easy field upgrade allows growth into high-speed, high-volume production.
The Truepress Jet W3200UV HS is uniquely engineered to satisfy the quality requirements of high-impact sign and display work usually produced on screen presses. The new machine, like its predecessor, incorporates a robust industrial build, pop-up register pins, auto-cleaning heads, a head-crash detection system and other features typically found on printers that come with much higher price tags. It accommodates premium-margin jobs, such as exhibition graphics and retail signage, as well as posters, product decoration, architectural signage and backlit displays. The 62.9x125.9" flatbed table is driven by magnetically encoded linear motors to achieve precision movement and is capable of meeting the demanding requirements of such applications as printing directly to lenticular lenses.
The Truepress Jet W3200UV HS features six colors (cyan, magenta, yellow, black, light cyan and light magenta) plus two white ink channels. It has 48 color heads and 16 white heads. Different print modes selected according to the requirements of the finished product suit all applications. For example, Photo Quality and Fine Photo Quality modes reproduce the detail required for fine lines, serif fonts and detail in highlight areas, while the Production mode is optimized for point-of-purchase materials. Text as fine as four points normal and six points reversed are sharp and legible in all modes.
Image quality and color management are controlled via the Wasatch SoftRIP. Screen supports all mainstream front-end RIP software options, including Caldera GrandRIP+, to generate precise color information, job tracking, imposition and finishing control.
Sellable Quality at Full Production Speed: The evenly moving, precision-driven table, newly developed printhead modules and original Truepress UV inks combine to produce sellable, top-quality graphics at speeds up to 1,614 square feet/hr. Linear drive motors provide exceptionally smooth, controlled motion of the print carriage, enabling exact drop placement anywhere on the media. The 14-picoliter printheads with silicon nozzle plates are liquid cooled, producing a uniformity of droplet shape and size that is critical for time of flight control and drop placement. Furthermore, the UV lamp shutter minimizes warping of heat-sensitive media.
Perfectly Level Table: Screen’s Table Mapping and Print-to-Shim functions complement the unmatched rigidity of the printer. Shim dots level the table to a very tight tolerance no matter where the device is located on the production floor. The flat table profile results in crisp, clean text.
Precise Ink Laydown: The Truepress Jet W3200UV HS prints at 10, 14, 18 and 22 passes with a thin ink film depending on the desired speed and quality. Users can fine-tune print modes and employ multiple passes to facilitate solid coverage, small type, fine lines and photo-realistic image reproduction.
Perfect Inline Registration of Up to Eight Independent Image Layers: The multilayer function enables sophisticated front/back overprinting to produce quality backlit and variable day/night graphics.
Get Creative with White Ink: White ink capability allows printing white in overprint, underprint, spot, underspot, fill and overspot. A white ink layer can be applied underneath, in between or on top of CMYK.
White Ink Circulation System: The automated system prevents white ink from separating into liquid and pigment and settling into the ink tank.
Register Pins to Position Prints: Substrate positioning is faster, and double-sided printing is in precise register.
Protect Printheads from Unwanted Collisions: Substrate Height Detectors on both sides of the carriage initiate an emergency stop before any impact with the printheads.
Specialized Vacuum Table Support: Six individually controlled vacuum zones that match most standard-sized graphic arts media secure rigid and flexible media in place on the table.
Instant Compensation for Non-Firing Nozzles: Missing or deviated nozzles are automatically detected and replaced. Printing continues at the preferred mode with perfect image quality.
Trouble-Free Operation with Auto-Cleaning: Automatic cleaning of the printhead reduces labor and prolongs the service life of the Truepress Jet W3200UV HS.
Screen USA will present daily demonstrations of the Truepress Jet W3200UV HS in Booth #2018 at SGIA Expo 2014, Oct. 22-24, at the Las Vegas Convention Center.
