One highlight of the recent In-plant Printing and Mailing Association conference was the presentation of the first Larry Clements Video Award, created to honor long-time IPMA photographer Larry Clements. A half dozen in-plants submitted videos they had produced showing off their operations, and these were screened during the conference.
The winner, chosen by a panel of four in-plant managers (including Larry Clements), was the Church of Scientology International Dissemination and Distribution Center. The in-plant’s very polished video showed off its impressive 185,000-square-foot facility and the web and sheetfed offset presses used to print Scientology publications (several of which have won In-Print awards). Skillfully shot and edited, with a dramatic music soundtrack, the video offered closeups of pages moving through the presses and into the binding and mailing areas. The video also showed off the fabric printing, embroidery, grand-format printing, and custom milling operations. Watch the impressive video here.
Thirteen in-plants submitted videos to the contest, which was sponsored by Ricoh. The seven finalists screened during IPMA 2023 included CHRISTUS Health, Olathe Public Schools, the State of Tennessee, Tacoma Public Schools, the State of Michigan, and Alliance Defending Freedom.
