In a ceremony yesterday during PRINTING United Expo, John Sarantakos, director of University of Oklahoma Print and Mail Services, one of the country’s largest university in-plants, was inducted along with 14 others into the prestigious Ben Franklin Honor Society (BFHS).
With more than 50 years of experience in the printing field as a manager, educator, and craftsperson, Sarantakos has been with the university for 26 years and prior to that served as director of production at Indiana University.
The historical BFHS recognizes and honors individuals who have made significant contributions to the advancement and betterment of the printing and graphic communications industry through meritorious service. Sarantakos is the first in-plant manager to have achieved this honor.
Under his leadership, OU’s in-plant has earned more than 260 awards for printing quality and innovative ideas. Last year he received the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association’s 2022 Outstanding Contributor Award.
Bob has served as editor of In-plant Impressions since October of 1994. Prior to that he served for three years as managing editor of Printing Impressions, a commercial printing publication. Mr. Neubauer is very active in the U.S. in-plant industry. He attends all the major in-plant conferences and has visited more than 180 in-plant operations around the world. He has given presentations to numerous in-plant groups in the U.S., Canada and Australia, including the Association of College and University Printers and the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association. He also coordinates the annual In-Print contest, co-sponsored by IPMA and In-plant Impressions.
