CHICAGO—RR Donnelley is closing Ohio plants in Greenfield and Sycamore Township, which will impact the jobs of nearly 225 employees in all. The Highland County Press reported that the Windy City-based printer filed a WARN notice for the Greenfield plant, which will begin layoffs of its staff of 166 on May 6.
Layoffs are slated to begin May 13 in Sycamore Township and will be completed by the end of that month. The Cincinnati Enquirer cited a WARN notice filed for the plant, with 57 jobs on the cutting block.
In the WARN notice filed for the former Banta plant in Greenfield, RR Donnelley cited changing market conditions as one reason behind the closure.
"It's a significant impact on our community," Greenfield City Manager Ron Coffey told The Press. "There's never a good time for something like this. It's a sad day and our hearts go out to this family."
