Ricoh held a VIP event right in IPG's hometown yesterday. Editor Bob Neubauer took a subway down to Lincoln Financial Field to check it out. Several hundred people, including a few local in-plant managers (Villanova University and the City of Camden were both spotted), crowded around various Ricoh printers and talked with some of Ricoh's partners as well. Educational sessions covered workflow automation and color management. Attendees also got a chance to tour the football stadium where the Philadelphia Eagles play and meet Eagles legend Bill Bergey, on hand to sign autographs.
Among the Ricoh devices on display were the Pro 8110s black-and-white production printer, the color Pro C5110s, the wide-format Pro L4160 and the Pro 7110x, producing prints with a clear coating. Ricoh partners providing demos included EFI, Rochester Software Associates, Avanti, Duplo, PrintNet and Max.
Ricoh's Debbie Pavletich, the former manager of Briggs & Stratton's in-plant, gave a presentation on workflow's role in business performance. She explained how MIS, Web-to-print, variable data and marketing resource management software can help printers minimize error, improve color management and provide faster turnaround times by reducing touch points and standardizing processes. (Part of her presentation was broadcast live by IPG using the Periscope app, allowing several people in remote locations to watch and send comments. To view a saved recording of this and see future IPG live broadcasts, download the app and follow IPGBob.)
