With ACUP's annual conference just nine days away, consultant Ray Chambers is busy preparing a presentation on the potential threat of managed print services. In advance of what promises to be a lively discussion on April 13, Chambers has provided IPG readers with a sneak preview in his latest blog entry.
Chambers explains that MPS vendors are becoming more aggressive in their approach to convince upper management that in-plant printing is unnecessary for parent companies, which they say would be better served by outsourcing their print work.
"Here’s the thing," writes Chambers. "Printing might not be your parent organization’s core business, but it is yours. That’s why your organization set up an in-plant in the first place."
There are strategies to meet this threat head on, Chambers notes in his blog. He will continue the discussion in his ACUP presentation, scheduled for 11 a.m., on Monday April 13. For more information and to register for the ACUP conference in Portsmouth, VA, click here.
