Ranking of the Largest In-plants
Our annual ranking of the largest in-plants in North America is here at last. Though not every one of the largest in-house printing operations sent us their sales and employee numbers for this ranking, our lists will still give you a quick look at some of the giants in the in-plant industry.
Some changes that stand out in the 2023 rankings:
- Eight of the top 10 revenue-generating in-plants are government printers.
- 21 in-plants on our list have increased the size of their staffs since 2022.
- Higher-ed in-plants make up more than 43% of the largest in-plants ranked by employees.

Bob has served as editor of In-plant Impressions since October of 1994. Prior to that he served for three years as managing editor of Printing Impressions, a commercial printing publication. Mr. Neubauer is very active in the U.S. in-plant industry. He attends all the major in-plant conferences and has visited more than 180 in-plant operations around the world. He has given presentations to numerous in-plant groups in the U.S., Canada and Australia, including the Association of College and University Printers and the In-plant Printing and Mailing Association. He also coordinates the annual In-Print contest, co-sponsored by IPMA and In-plant Impressions.
