Devin Abramowitz, VP of Sales & Marketing for Techkon USA, knows that when it comes to controlling color in a press run, there’s no excuse for almost getting it right.
“Customers are more knowledgeable about it, and they are holding printers to standards,” he says. “Printers cannot meet those standards unless they measure.”
Techkon gives printers the tools they need to get and keep color under control, including a solution that won a 2018 InterTech Award for its exceptional innovation. The company plans to promote its expertise in color management and quality assurance at an event where interest in the subjects is certain to be keen: PRINTING United (Dallas, Tex., October 23-25, 2019).
With more than 100,000 installations worldwide, Techkon specializes in instrumentation, software and integrated solutions that help commercial and packaging printers to deliver consistently excellent color in every job. In booth 11446 at PRINTING United, the company will show printers how using its technologies for measuring, managing and communicating color can help them win more business and increase their profit margins.
One such solution is SpectroVision, which will be presented in a live demonstration at the booth. An automated, inline spectrophotometer, SpectroVision centralizes quality control functions including color monitoring, bar code reading, and web viewing and registration. The system can detect problems before they turn into unnecessary waste, according to Abramowitz.
“Today, a printed roll can be thrown in the trash if the color is not correct, bar codes are not readable or if the registration was not held in tolerance,” he says. “Our new solution addresses all of these needs in real-time so the user can quickly intervene and make the necessary corrections, which ultimately saves material, money and leads to overall higher quality printed products.”
Also to be demonstrated is Techkon’s InterTech Award-winning SpectroDens, a handheld scanning densitometer that the judges found superior in speed, accuracy, versatility and ergonomics to standard clamshell-style devices. On the software side, visitors can learn about ChromaQA, for continuous color quality control throughout the pressroom; and PressLink, for closed-loop color management on older presses.
Because high-end color output will be visible everywhere at PRINTING United, Abramowitz believes that the event “will be the perfect venue for our suite of color management products.”
A joint venture of the Specialty Graphic Imaging Association (SGIA) and NAPCO Media, PRINTING United offers a new perspective on profiting in segments from garment to graphic, packaging to commercial, and industrial to in-plant. BRAND United, a co-located educational program, complements the experience with content aimed at brand owners and other customer audiences.
The keynote of the event, which has attracted more than 500 exhibitors to date, is convergence: the migration of print service providers into new market opportunities beyond the ones on which they’ve traditionally focused. Techkon believes that its technologies and know-how can help them succeed.
“We do see many printers moving into different applications and adjacent markets including but not limited to labels, wide-format and packaging,” Abramowitz says. “Techkon has the color quality solutions to address many of the adjacent applications that printers are looking to take on.”
