"You're going to eliminate the need for paper or microfilm manuals," says Walker. "I think the office place is already getting that way. Our copy center volume has dropped dramatically this year."

To adjust to this future of on-demand printing, Walker says, "I'll have to create relationships around the world so that a manual can electronically go to the two dozen places where it will be needed and produced. That's my new service, being the publisher's clearinghouse if you will."
