PITTSBURGH—April 3, 2008—The Printing Industries of America/Graphic Arts Technical Foundation (PIA/GATF) is pleased to announce the establishment of the Center for Color Management assisting members with the implementation of color management and production color controls. The Center provides consulting, training, publications, and case-study evaluations of international print standards and printing reference conditions.
The association reports that printers recognizing the power of color science, advanced technologies, and integrated systems consistently increase color accuracy and repeatability among various digital and print media devices, while also reducing production waste.
Ken Rizzo (PIA/GATF, Director of Consulting and Custom Training) along with Joe Suffoletto, MS, CDPS (PIA/GATF, Senior Technical Service Consultant) oversee the Center’s activities and maintain focus on new technologies, improving trends in color management and production color controls. Their combined experience of over 50+ years in color science, integrated color-control systems, process control, and manufacturing guides members effectively through the color management process.
The Center is housed within PIA/GATF’s Sewickley, PA production facilities, which utilize a diverse collection of workflow components in digital and print media production from prepress through press and postpress operations.
The PIA/GATF Center for Color Management provides vital content and expertise for the PIA/GATF Color Management Conference, held in Phoenix, AZ each December. The PIA/GATF Color Management Conference focuses on advances in photography, proofing, commercial print, packaging, and specialty areas of color management.
