A new video from In-plant Graphics takes a look at the Graph Expo debut of the Performance Challenge, a new assessment tool from Canon Solutions America that benchmarks in-plants against industry standards. Dozens of in-plant managers packed the session to learn more about how the tool can help their operations.
The event began with an introduction from NAPL Senior Consultant Howie Fenton on the importance of benchmarking and how it can strengthen in-plant operations.
“In-plant leaders measure their performance,” noted Fenton, who then discussed some of the key performance indicators they should measure.
Following Fenton, Canon Solutions America’s Aaron Hale debuted the Performance Challenge. The tool, developed specifically for in-plants, shows users their shop’s strengths and weaknesses, how to address them, and how to implement a growth strategy.
Canon developed the Performance Challenge in partnership with InfoTrends, a research and analysis firm. Using extensive InfoTrends research, the Performance Challenge scores users based on industry analysis and benchmarks. The five key areas that are judged include:
- Management, benchmarking and customer service
- Range of products and services
- Production workflow
- Awareness
- Competition and insourcing
In-plant managers taking the challenge can choose between taking a 20-question Basic Challenge to receive a high-level performance report, or the Ultimate Challenge, an approximately 50-question assessment that provides a comprehensive detailed evaluation and a projected return on investment if the user follows the recommendations.
