Palm Beach County's Graphics Division recently hosted a “myDI” Operator Skills training event for the Presstek brand 52DI offset press in its Greenacres, Fla., facility. The in-plant installed a Presstek 52DI a year ago and was happy to allow it to be utilized for the week-long training event.
"Not only was it an excellent experience for our newest staff member but a refresher for our three existing print staff," raves Manager John D.L. Johnson. "They had a great opportunity to ask questions that had come to mind over the past year they have been operating the Presstek 52DI."
The event is part of an ongoing series of training programs presented by Mark Andy Print Products, which acquired Presstek last year. It's an intense, hands-on training focusing on such skills as color management, press maintenance, paper handling, minimizing makeready and basic operational skills. Mark Andy holds these training events to ensure a constant available stream of trained, highly skilled factory-certified DI press operators. Training classes are also held for the Presstek 34DI press.
"We have been extremely pleased with the performance of the 52DI since its installation a year ago," continues Johnson. "We have run over six million impressions on it with tremendous quality and efficiency. Like any new machine we had some bugs and procedures to work out, but they were good learning experiences for the entire staff."
The in-plant replaced a digital toner press with the DI offset press in June 2018.
"Acquiring this 52DI was definitely the right decision for our operation," adds Johnson, "and our customers have noticed the great quality and quick turnaround it has provided."
