Océ Marketing Manager Jodie MacLellan described the company’s sustainable practices, such as reusing metal to keep it out of landfills and remanufacturing equipment. Océ products produce less heat, noise and ozone than other vendors’ products, she said, use less energy and can use recycled paper.
Barkin discussed the trend toward corporate social responsibility. He urged in-plants to evaluate, improve and publicize their efforts regularly, and to publish a “Green Position Statement.” He explained Forest Stewardship Council Chain of Custody certification, and mentioned actions printers are taking to be more green, such as reducing VOC levels and carbon emissions, and increasing recycling efforts.
