NPES Presents Harold W. Gegenheimer Awards to Dr. Stolt, Burgess Industries
RESTON, VA—November 19, 2008—NPES The Association for Suppliers of Printing, Publishing and Converting Technologies has awarded its Harold W. Gegenheimer Individual and Corporate Awards for Industry Service to Dr. Juergen J. Stolt and Burgess Industries, respectively. The awards, named for the former NPES president and Baldwin Technology Company chairman emeritus, recognize leadership and participation in NPES and industry activities, civic leadership and technical innovation. They were presented at the NPES 75th Annual Conference, held November 15 – 17, in St. Pete Beach, FL.
Stolt, the recipient of the individual award, has spent most of his international career in the imaging technology and graphic communications field. He was most recently executive vice-president at Pantone, Inc., now part of X-Rite, where he ran the company's worldwide color communication business. Prior to Pantone, Stolt served 20 years at AGFA and Bayer Corporation.
A passionate supporter of the industry, Stolt's involvement in NPES has included service on the government affairs, meetings and programs, and strategic planning committees. He also just concluded a term on the Board of Directors. In addition, Stolt is also a longstanding member of the advisory board at New York University's Graphic Communications Management and Technology Program.
“Dr. Stolt embodies all the best qualities of Harold W. Gegenheimer: a lifelong commitment to technical innovation, sound management, support for education and research, and tireless work on behalf of the industry,” said Ralph J. Nappi, president of NPES. “We are honored to be able to recognize Dr. Stolt's great influence on, and many contributions to, our industry.”
Burgess Industries, the corporate award recipient, is an industry leader recognized for the design and manufacturing of quality equipment and automation. Burgess was recently selected among an elite roster of manufacturers and suppliers by Cox Target Media to integrate Cox's state-of-the-art Valpak Manufacturing Center.
In addition to being a consistent participant at industry shows and events, such as GRAPH EXPO® and PRINT®, Burgess Industries has been an enthusiastic supporter of NPES through the staff contributions of its president and CEO, D. J. Burgess.
“For nearly 30 years, Burgess Industries has been a leader in technological innovation, working to provide efficient and cost-effective systems to the graphic communications industry,” said Nappi. “We are grateful to Burgess' meaningful contribution to the industry—and to NPES—all these years.”
Both Stolt and Burgess Industries received plaques that will also be displayed at NPES headquarters. NPES has also established two Harold W. Gegenheimer Award scholarships with the Print and Graphics Scholarship Foundation, to which two thousand dollars is given each year. These scholarships are awarded to the employees, or children of employees, of NPES members who are pursuing studies in graphic communications.
