There's been a population boom in Texas, and as a result, the Frisco Independent School District (FISD) has grown by leaps and bounds. This school district just north of Dallas is one of the nation's fastest growing districts; it's expected to grow by 2,500 students each year for the next 10 years.
Providing printed materials for the expanding district is FISD's Print/Mail/Sign Services department. In order to maximize production capabilities while controlling costs, the in-plant implemented WebCRD from Rochester Software Associates. The results have been wonderful.
"We're able to utilize less staff and bring in more volume," says Sherri Broderick, manager of Print/Mail/Sign Services, which now prints 8-9 million copies per month. "And that's a huge increase from where we started in 2002 when the print center was established."
"I would safely say that we've saved millions of dollars over the last six years," adds Jamie Driskill, the district's director of Community Relations and Marketing. "Teachers love it. Principals love it."
A new video highlights FISD's Print/Mail/Sign Services department and the improvements that WebCRD brought, including:
- Slashing turnaround time from a week to one or two days
- Bringing in more volume with less staff
- Letting teachers spend more time in the classroom, not at the copier
Watch the video to see how the in-plant has evolved its WebCRD solution over time, adding modules (like WebCRD Dynamics for variable data) and other RSA software, includingQDirect (for queueing, grouping and job batching) and the ReadyPrint prepress suite module as their volume has increased.
