New Inkjet Increases Volume, Quality at Intermountain

A little over a year after installing a Ricoh Pro VC60000 roll-fed inkjet press in Oct. 2023, Intermountain Healthcare’s in-plant has added a second inkjet press, a Canon varioPRINT iX cut-sheet model, into its 20,000-sq.-ft. Salt Lake City facility.

“With the rapid growth of our hospital system we have had a large increase in demand for printed materials,” says Simon Ortiz, Print Services operations manager. “Our toner devices … were struggling to keep up with our volume growth. By adding the Canon iX, it increases our volume capabilities by 300%.”
The 20-employee Design & Print Center will use it to print marketing and patient education materials, business cards, thank-you cards, brochures, fact sheets, menus, door hangers, booklets – “you name it, we print it on this machine,” says Ortiz. “The quality is excellent. It just has sharp, vibrant, and crisp colors.”
The in-plant is also adding a C.P. Bourg BM-e 4 bookletmaker and a Tecnau Cutline Stack 1010 system with a TC1530 Dynamic Perforator and a TC1537 Punch unit. Learn more in this IPI interview of Simon Ortiz:
