Fast-drying, Eco-solvent Printers
The new Mimaki JV300 series of production-speed, eco-solvent printers includes the 53˝ Mimaki JV300-130 and 64˝ Mimaki JV300-160. Both come with eight ink channels and a variety of colors. They use Mimaki SS21 fast-drying, eco-solvent inks that can print on hundreds of media choices. The JV300 series printers include newly developed printheads in a staggered configuration and inkjet technology with precise dot control for higher productivity. The Nozzle Check Unit reduces waste by checking for potential nozzle outages between file runs; the Nozzle Recovery System assigns operational nozzles as substitutes until an outage can be cleared. A media handling system supports feeding and take-up of heavy rolls up to 88 pounds. —www.mimakiusa.com
Intelligent Inkjet Presses
The new Kodak Prosper 6000 continuous-feed production inkjet presses print up to 1,000 feet per minute on matted and uncoated papers. They are powered by an Intelligent Print System (IPS) that continuously monitors, evaluates and adjusts operations to ensure quality output. The IPS can monitor and instantly correct color registration. The writing system runs on new nanotechnology inks, offering a greater color gamut and delivering print quality that rivals offset output. The Prosper 6000C is for applications requiring high ink laydowns and the Prosper 6000P is for publishing applications. Both boast a duty cycle of 90 million A4 pages per month. —graphics.kodak.com
New Digital Front End
EFI has launched its newest digital front end for cutsheet digital production systems, the Fiery FS150 Pro. Users can process their color digital print jobs up to 55 percent faster, since Fiery HyperRIP processes print jobs simultaneously on four processor cores. In addition, Fiery ImageViewer now includes the ability to save last-minute color adjustments, and the latest Fiery Command WorkStation software offers more automation, allowing operators to produce jobs in fewer clicks and with reduced errors. —www.efi.com
New Slitters, Creasers
Duplo USA’s new DC-616 and DC-616 PRO slitter/cutter/creasers are designed to eliminate white borders and prevent toner cracking on digital color documents. Offering a fully automatic setup and quick changeovers, they can process up to six slits, 25 cuts and 20 creases in a single pass. The DC-616 PRO comes with the PC Controller software for easy job setup, enabling it to recall any job stored in memory by reading the printed barcode. The scanner also reads registration marks to correct sheet-by-sheet image shift. The DC-616 PRO comes standard with a perforating unit, including two manually adjustable perforation tools, to perforate along the length of the sheet. —www.duplousa.com
Advanced Offset Press
Komori recently introduced the Lithrone GX40 offset press, printing at a maximum speed of 18,000 sheets per hour—even with heavy stock. It can be equipped with automatic non-stop feeder and delivery systems and automatic cleaning/washing systems. The energy-conserving, space-saving design, along with reduced heat emissions, provides benefits for the environment. It can be equipped with a PDF comparison system. Once a perfect sheet is achieved, it is scanned with the PDC-SX scanning spectrophotometer and matched to the PDF file. Defect sheets are identified by sheet number, applied with the optional Komori inkjet numbering system.

Rotary Die Cutter
The Delta, from Rollem USA, is a flexo-magnetic rotary die cutter ideal for both offset and digital output. It can die cut, kiss cut and score a range of applications, such as labels, stickers, presentation folders and direct mailers. Its quick job changeover, ease of operation and versatility make it ideal for finishing shorter-run personalized products. The Delta5 runs up to a 20x15˝ sheet. The Delta7 runs up to a 30x24˝ sheet. Both take minimum sheet sizes of 8x8˝ and minimum sheet thickness of 20-lb. paper, with speeds up to 5,000 sheets per hour. —www.rollemusa.com/diecut
New TC Operating System for Cutters
The Challenge Machinery Company’s new TC operating system, available with its programmable Titan and Champion paper cutters, utilizes a 10.5” color touch screen providing an easy-to-use interface with intuitive design. Improved cutting efficiencies are possible with faster backgauge positioning, repeat commands in the main screen, and pattern repeat commands in the programming module. The TC System is reportedly the first controller in the industry to recognize .csv formatted files, common with most spreadsheet software, making offline programming simple and quick to implement. Ethernet and USB ports enable the receipt and sending of programs through a network. —www.challengemachinery.com
Multi-faceted Die Cutter
The new Standard Horizon RD-4055 die cutter creases, perforates, slits, punches and rounds corners for digital and offset printed sheets. Feeding, die-cutting and separating are achieved in one pass at 6,000 cycles per hour. Both setup and operation can be done through the intuitive touch screen. Die cutting and kiss cutting can be performed simultaneously with two different blade heights. Finished products are delivered on a motorized conveyor. Intermittent conveyor movement maximizes the continuous operation in a small space and gap can be adjusted depending upon the size of the product for easy handling. An optional SFC-4055 Trim Waste Separator removes trim waste. —www.sdmc.com
Fast Folding Machine
The K8 RS combi-folder from MBO America is capable of production speeds of up to 275 m/min., representing a 20 percent increase in production output over the previous model, the K8 Perfection. Finishing job speeds match that of sheetfed offset presses, allowing for 1:1 printing to folding. Like its predecessors, the K8 RS can be outfitted with variations of the S-KTL and S-KTZ crossfold units. It can also be equipped with an automation package to improve makeready times. —www.mboamerica.com
Digital Print Feeder
BDT Media Automation has added a B1-format feeder, the TPF-750 LT, into its portfolio of digital print feeders. It accommodates media weights from 67 gsm to 800 gsm, thick media and exotic substrates, including high-static synthetics or spot-varnished prints. The device’s feed rates are above 10,000/hr. for A3 formats. Relevant substrate parameters are stored in the database and can be viewed via a touchscreen panel. The fully automated TPF-750 LT runs without compressed air or manual adjustments. There are fewer parts to maintain—no pump, valves or filters—thereby reducing operating costs. Applications include feeding for digital presses and postpress finishing systems. —www.BDT.de/en
