Mail, Print Conference Draws 60 to Cedarville
Sixty people from universities and businesses across the Midwest attended the recent Learn and Launch mail and print conference in Cedarville, Ohio. It was organized by the Cedarville University Postal and Print Operations, along with the University Mail Managers Association (UMMA) and Mail System Management Association (MSMA).
Educational sessions were conducted by a mix of product vendors, print and mail professionals, and United States Postal Services (USPS) personnel. Sessions covered QR codes; multichannel marketing; database hygiene; the psychology of color; paper, print, and mail in the digital age; success in print/mail consolidation; new folded self-mailer requirements; and more. Roger Chamberlain, secretary and manager, Administrative Services at The Cincinnati Insurance Company, gave a presentation on effective cost-control efforts in an in-plant environment.
Conference attendees were eligible to earn a Print and Mail Logistics Certificate offered by the USPS; 34 people achieved this certificate. The conference also included a Mailpiece Design Professional (MDP) study session, attended by 30 people from varying backgrounds in mail, print and design. Upon completion of the course, attendees were better prepared to complete an exam on their own to receive a USPS certification as a Mailpiece Design Professional.
The conference sessions were structured so that a mail session ran concurrent with a print session so attendees could choose which session best fit their interest. Vendor participation came from digital print equipment vendors, mail and print software vendors, and paper and finishing vendors from 13 different companies.
