Jetcomm Inkjet Conference Tours World Bank In-plant
More than 150 HP inkjet production press users from around the world met last month in Washington, DC, for the first Jetcomm conference. In addition to letting inkjet press users connect and share their experiences, the event featured sessions and customer panels.
The highlight was a tour of The World Bank Group’s impressive in-plant, where participants saw an HP T230 Inkjet Web Press and a variety of Hunkeler finishing solutions in action.
“Attendees seemed to be impressed with the unique configuration and asked many questions about the install,” says Jimmy Vainstein, senior project manager. “The tour was done in two separate times, morning and afternoon, and we hosted close to 30 persons each time. It was a joy to see how our staff was involved in showing our equipment and engaging in conversation with our visitors. We shared details of the type of work and services we offer at The World Bank, highlighting the value of our services in the fulfilment of our organization’s goals.”
Vainstein also participated in one of the panels at Jetcomm on the topic of “Prepress to Finishing: Innovation in End-to-End Workflow.”
“My presentation focused on the impact that high-speed inkjet had on our in-plant’s operation—how the investment and technology transformed our in-plant and helped us embrace a much expanded role in our organization,” he says. “I also took the chance to explain how valuable an in-plant printing operation can be for its parent organization, providing a few examples when our operation saved the day using our HP inkjet press by producing quality printing work at an incredibly fast turnaround time.”
Overall, Vainstein was impressed with the Jetcomm event and the many conversations he had with fellow inkjet users.
“There was a very unique atmosphere of collaboration in the air, as industry peers were not shy to share their experiences,” he reports. “In a way, I believe people felt how important the event was and the milestone that it signified for the industry. A common theme was the understanding of how far the industry as a whole has come in regards to digital printing and its role in the future of our industry.”
