In May, In-plant Graphics will host a free one-day conference for in-plants in government and higher-education. Working with the Government Publishing Office (GPO), IPG has secured a spacious auditorium in GPO’s Washington, DC, headquarters for the event, and anticipates an action-packed day of education and networking.
The goal of this conference is to offer in-plants innovative ideas and share best practices to help them reshape their operations to thrive in these changing times. The DC area is home to many government and university in-plants, some of which may not have the funding to travel or attend other industry events. To help keep them apprised of the latest in-plant market trends and give them new strategies for adding value, IPG has arranged a stellar lineup of speakers and topics:
- Long-time consultant Howie Fenton, who recently joined InfoTrends, will relate his observations from in-plant visits and InfoTrends studies and share best practices. He will discuss trends at government and university in-plants including spending, growth markets, new technologies and strategies to increase value.
- Colorado State Printer Mike Lincoln will highlight the innovations he has implemented at his operation, which has just become the first government in-plant to add an inkjet production press. He will detail how his staff overhauled the state’s mailing services, saving thousands of dollars, and discuss unique services his in-plant provides, like secure printing and storage.
- Dave Leonard, manager of the World Bank Group’s Printing & Multimedia Services operation, will talk about how his in-plant used its Web-to-print system to acquire new business, increase efficiency and free up staff for other tasks.
- Sandra MacAfee, GPO’s deputy managing director, customer services, will describe GPO’s procurement practices, which analyze such factors as quality, expertise and past performance to ensure that taxpayers receive the best possible value.
- IPG Editor Bob Neubauer will present the latest research on government and higher-ed in-plants to highlight key trends and best practices. As conference chair, Neubauer will also moderate a panel of top industry suppliers who will explain how their services can help in-plants improve their value.
As many readers know, this isn’t IPG’s first time managing an educational event. In addition to our Graph Expo seminars, IPG helped launch the Inkjet Summit, now in its third year, which has become the main event in the rapidly growing production inkjet industry. IPG’s parent company, NAPCO Media, produces numerous live events in many different industries.
