IPG Addresses In-plant Open House in Pittsburgh
On Tuesday, IPG Editor Bob Neubauer spoke at an in-plant open house event held at Konica Minolta Business Solutions' facility in Pittsburgh, Pa. In-plants from around the region attended the event, which featured several seminars plus an opportunity to see demos of equipment from Konica Minolta and its partners.
Neubauer spoke about the importance of adding new services to enhance the value that the in-plant offers to the organization. He offered several examples of in-plants that have expanded their service offerings and increased business as a result. He also presented IPG research results showing the capabilities and services in-plants offer, as well as the percentage that charge back, insource, market themselves, plan to buy equipment, etc.
"Our purpose was to bring some educational value to the local in-plant/CRD departments," explains event organizer Tom Rutzky, senior production print specialist at Konica Minolta Business Solutions. "By discussing and sharing trends and best practices that are applicable to their world, we can increase the value they bring to their university or company, which in turn will help justify and strengthen their existence."
In-plants from a number of organizations attended the event, including Allegheny College, Geneva College, Duquesne University, Oncology Nursing Society, American Auto Matrix, the Community College of Allegheny County, California University of Pennsylvania and others. In the seminars, they learned about Web-to-print from Patricia Groger, of Rochester Software Associates, and heard more about building cross-media campaigns from Dimeji Onafuwa, of proSource Integrated Marketing. In the demo area, Konica Minolta bizhub digital presses were joined by Duplo binding equipment and an envelope printer from Intoprint Technologies.
