Ipex 2010 in Full Swing

The Ipex 2010 show, in Birmingham, UK, is in full swing right now. Many vendors are showing off new technology at the show, a lot of which uses ink-jet. For example, Xerox is previewing its high-speed production ink-jet technology, designed to produce high impact color on low cost papers. It is showing an ink-jet device using 56 durable piezo-electric, drop-on-demand print heads with more than 49,000 nozzles jetting nearly two billion ink drops per second. The printer produces more than 2,000 color images per minute.

HP is introducing the HP T200 Color Inkjet Web Press, a lower-cost 20˝ solution that prints 821 four-color duplex A4 pages per minute and has a 23 million page monthly duty cycle. Other new products include the HP Indigo 7500 Digital Press, designed to replace small and midsize offset presses, and the entry-level HP Indigo 3550 Digital Press.

Fujifilm’s B2 sheet-fed digital inkjet press, the Jet Press 720 (called the Fujifilm Digital Inkjet Press in the United States) uses SAMBA print-head technology to achieve resolutions of 1,200x1,200 dpi with four variable dot sizes.

Konica Minolta is demonstrating its new bizhub PRESS C8000, which it debuted at On Demand, as well as the new bizhub PRESS C7000.

InfoPrint Solutions, which becomes a wholly owned subsidiary of Ricoh Company Ltd. on July 1, unveiled the InfoPrint 5000 (multi-purpose) MP, as well as new workflow software and additional InfoPrint 4100 models.

Kodak is gaining lots of attention with its K-Zone, which debuted at Print 09, a live talk-show set featuring discussions with industry experts, print service providers and marketing professionals.

Heidelberg is showcasing the Speedmaster CX 102 at IPEX, with a production speed of 16,500 sheets per hour.

Pitney Bowes has announced the newest addition to its family of high-speed, high-volume mail inserters, the Pitney Bowes Mailstream Evolution Inserting System, boasting upgrades that provide greater flexibility, productivity and integrity.

Standard Finishing Systems’ partner Horizon launched the Standard Horizon CABS 6000 17-clamp system perfect binding system, producing up to 6,000 books per hour. Also new is the 9-clamp SB-09S binder, which also features swappable glue tanks, and the HT-80 automated three-knife trimmer, designed for operation in-line with the Standard Horizon BQ-470 perfect binder.
