This was a busy week for University of Oklahoma Printing Services as technicians put the finishing touches on the installation of a new Kodak Nexfinity digital press, making the in-plant the first in the world to purchase and install the versatile sheetfed press.
"It is very exciting," enthused Director John Sarantakos in a phone call with IPG yesterday. Being the first in the world to add the press has brought the in-plant a lot of positive attention. Kodak officials were on hand to witness the installation in the in-plant's 60,000-sq.-ft. facility outside Oklahoma City.
The new press joins OU Printing Services' existing Kodak NexPress SX3300, and Sarantakos is confident the in-plant has enough work to keep both of them busy.

"I think it's going to expand some markets, particularly the short-run variable data market," says Sarantakos.
The quality of the Nexfinity is fantastic, he says, thanks to Kodak's Dynamic Imaging Technology, which applies algorithmic adjustments to specific areas of an image, optimizing image quality and consistency based on the image content in each area. Its LED writing system provides 256 levels of exposure on the imaging cylinder, yielding excellent, consistent quality.
