In-plants around the country have been mailing in samples of their best work for the In-Print 2016 contest. And with today being the official deadline for entries to be postmarked, the IPMA office in Kearney, Missouri, is preparing for a deluge of entries.
Traditionally, most shops wait until this week to gather their entries and ship them out. It's not always a wise move, though, since it may not give you enough time to examine your samples for small defects—defects the judges are sure to find. But though today is the deadline, in truth we never turn any entries away. So if sending them on Monday will give you time to inspect your pieces and make sure you're not sending in cracked folds or hickies, go ahead and take the time.
One thing that is inexcusable, however, is not entering at all. Your staff deserves to be rewarded for their hard work by having their printed pieces submitted for consideration in a national contest. Don't let them down.
