In-Print 2017 was a contest with many surprises. Pieces that seemed shoe-ins found themselves superseded by entries with less obvious merits. Updated versions of pieces that have won Best of Show in past competitions did not even won a Bronze award this year. And in-plants that have traditionally dominated the contest made way for new leaders. As a result, the list of winners looks somewhat different this year, with a number of first-time winners receiving awards.
On Monday, five current and former in-plant managers met at IPMA headquarters in Kearney, Mo., to inspect the 415 entries. Of those 65 were singled out for awards, including 27 Gold awards. Winners hailed from 33 different in-plants. The top winners were:
- The University of Texas at Austin: seven awards.
- The University of Oklahoma: six awards.
- Bloomberg LP: five awards.
- Yale University: four awards.
Earning three awards were the Church of Scientology, the World Bank Group, the University of California-Davis and Excellus BlueCross BlueShield. Six other in-plants won two awards: UT Health, Briggs and Stratton, the University of North Texas, Blue Valley School District, Arizona State University and Oregon State University.
In addition to the Gold, Silver and Bronze awards, six pieces won Judges' Recognition awards. These were given to well done pieces that had some small flaw, but which impressed the judges enough that they felt they deserved recognition.
The In-Print contest is jointly sponsored by IPG and IPMA. Winners will be honored in a ceremony at the IPMA conference in Pittsburgh on June 13, at which point the Best of Show winners will be revealed. Click the links below to see who won:
